The Challenge

Winshark needed to build a scalable player registration pipeline across DACH markets while testing Canada as a new English-speaking acquisition geo. Getting that right across two distinct language environments introduced three obstacles that had to be solved from the start:

Campaign Strategy

Phase 1: Learning (Month 1)

The campaign launched with a broad user acquisition display campaign across Austria and Germany. The creative led with a German-language welcome angle. "Willkommen im Spiel — Jetzt Spielen" used the Winshark shark mascot against a blue branded background to drive registrations from German-speaking gaming audiences. The campaign ran at a $1.00 CPC bid and delivered 15,010 registrations at a $2.42 CPA with a 36.4% registration rate. Austria and Germany responded strongly to the localised welcome creative from the first weeks of activity.

Phase 2: Consideration (Month 2–3)

A Flux Campaign retargeting campaign activated in Month 2 across Austria and Canada. The retargeting creative shifted to a bonus incentive angle. "Welcome Shark: Get Bonus" used the shark mascot in a winter-themed blue creative to re-engage users who had visited but not yet claimed a bonus. Canada received the same creative in English, testing the Winshark brand in a new market. The retargeting campaign delivered 2,898 registrations at a $2.27 CPA, improving on the Phase 1 CPA while running at a higher $1.57 CPC through the Flux Campaign format.

Phase 3: Acquisition (Month 3–5)

A Performance Max Flux Campaign launched in Month 3 across Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. The creative shifted to a deposit bonus angle. "150% + 200 Free Spins auf die erste Einzahlung" led with a first-deposit bonus stack in German, supported by a treasure chest visual. Automated Flux Campaign optimisation identified the highest-converting placements across the DACH geo set. The campaign delivered 2,553 registrations at a $3.53 CPA across 1.2M impressions. Switzerland activated as a new market in this phase, extending the DACH footprint beyond the Austria and Germany anchor geos.
